California

  • Governor: Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) defeated John Cox (R) to succeed Gov. Edmund G. Brown (D) as the 40th Governor of California.
  • Senate: Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D) defeated Kevin de Le὚n (D) to serve her sixth term in the U.S. Senate.
  • Proposition 3: The California Water Bond was not approved by the voters.
  • Proposition 6: The Gas Tax Repeal was not approved by the voters.
  • CA-4: Rep. Tom McClintock (R) won reelection against challenger Jessica Morse (D) to serve his sixth consecutive term in the U.S. House of Representatives.
  • CA-9: Rep. Jerry McNerney (D) won reelection against challenger Marla Livengood (R) to serve his seventh consecutive term in the U.S. House of Representatives.

  • NM-2: Xochitl Torres Small (D) appears to have defeated Yvette Herrell (R) in the race to replace Rep. Steve Pearce (R) in the U.S. House of Representatives.
