Sec. of Health issues Public Health order
On March 23, 2020, New Mexico Secretary of Health Kathyleen Kunkel issued a Public Health Order further limiting mass gatherings, defined as 5 or more people in a single room, and ordering the closing of all businesses except those deemed essential. As defined in New Mexico, “essential businesses” include “farms, ranches, and other food cultivation, processing, or packaging operations.” A full list of essential businesses can be found here.
Additionally, on March 27, 2020, Governor Lujan Grisham issued an Executive Order directing all individuals who travel into New Mexico from outside the State through an airport to self-isolate for 14 days. The order does not apply to airline employees and those performing public safety or public health functions, such as military personnel, federal employees, employees of national defense contractors, emergency first responders, health care workers or employees of shipping and freight companies. The order also does not apply to individuals traveling into New Mexico via ground transportation.
