Governor Newsom Issues Executive Order on Paid Sick Leave

On April 14, 2020, Governor Newsom issued an Executive Order for large employers of 500 employees or more operating in the food sector to provide employees that have tested positive for COVID or are ordered to quarantine due to COVID two weeks of paid sick leave. The goal of the order is to close the “gap” left by the federal Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA), which applies to employers with under 500 employees. However, unlike federal law, there is no tax relief or credit associated with this cost.

Large employers are required to display or disseminate this poster.
