On August 22nd, The California Farm Bureau Federation hosted an agriculture roundtable discussion with Ambassador Gregg Doud, who is the Chief Agricultural Negotiator in the Office of the United States Trade Representative. Along with many other agriculture groups from across the state, Rob Nash, Director of Government Relations, attended on behalf of American Pistachio Growers.

While the main focus of the discussion was on China and the trade issues many commodities are facing there, Rob also spoke to the Ambassador about the regulatory issues the pistachio industry is facing in the European Union (EU), especially with regard to their food safety law. Rob encouraged the Ambassador to keep that issue in mind when negotiating trade agreements with the EU.
